White Vinyl Siding Replacement and Board-and-Batten Exterior Renovation in Weehawken, NJ

Weehawken, NJSiding Replacement and Exterior RenovationOctober 2026

Siding replacement in Weehawken, NJ included new white vinyl siding, Tyvek HomeWrap, Alside ProFold fanfold underlayment, black exterior trim, and a white board-and-batten fiber-cement accent on the front elevation.

Project summary

This exterior renovation updated an occupied residential home in Weehawken, Hudson County, NJ 07086. The work covered the primary exterior elevations and front projection, with an estimated 2,000–2,800 square feet of siding area based on the project scope. Because the home sits in a dense neighborhood with very narrow side access and multiple stories, the installation required careful staging and several visits.

The existing pitched asphalt-shingle roof was not the focus of this project. No roof replacement or roof-deck replacement is documented in these project photos.

Problem found

The original wood siding and exterior trim were heavily weathered, with deteriorated sections and exposed wood visible around the front, rear, windows, and addition. The old exterior no longer provided a consistent, weather-protected finish. The wall surfaces had to be stripped and prepared before a new siding assembly could be installed.

Work completed

  • Removed the old exterior siding, trim, and deteriorated surface materials.
  • Prepared the wall surfaces and repaired substrate areas as needed for the new finish.
  • Installed Tyvek HomeWrap as the weather-resistant barrier.
  • Installed Alside ProFold fanfold underlayment in applicable sections.
  • Installed white horizontal vinyl siding on the side and rear elevations.
  • Installed white vertical board-and-batten fiber-cement siding as an architectural front accent.
  • Installed black window trim, corner trim, fascia, soffit, and siding transitions.
  • Integrated window openings, flashing, sealant, downspouts, and other drainage details with the new exterior.

Materials and siding details

The primary cladding is white horizontal vinyl siding selected for low-maintenance weather protection. The front elevation includes a white board-and-batten fiber-cement accent for added architectural character. Black trim around the windows and roofline creates a high-contrast finish and helps define the updated facade.

The wall assembly also includes Tyvek HomeWrap, Alside ProFold fanfold underlayment, flashing, exterior fasteners, sealant, trim boards, soffit, fascia, and drainage components. The combination of horizontal lap siding and vertical board-and-batten detailing gives the renovated exterior a more finished, intentional appearance.

Project result

The deteriorated exterior was replaced with a new, weather-protected siding system. Finished elevations show straight siding courses, clean window transitions, completed black trim, and a distinctive front board-and-batten accent. Some photographs document active construction, while the later images show the completed white-and-black exterior treatment.

The finished result is a cleaner, more durable exterior renovation suited to a narrow, multi-story Weehawken property. Done Rite Roof Repair – Exteriors & Repairs coordinated the siding, weather barrier, trim, and drainage details as one exterior improvement project.

Weehawken siding replacement FAQs

Why was complete siding replacement recommended?

The original siding and trim were broadly weathered and deteriorated. Replacing the exterior created a consistent weather-protected assembly instead of leaving isolated damaged areas behind.

What siding materials were installed?

White horizontal vinyl siding was installed on the side and rear elevations, with a white vertical board-and-batten fiber-cement accent on the front. Tyvek HomeWrap and Alside ProFold fanfold underlayment were used in the wall assembly where shown.

What does Tyvek HomeWrap do?

Tyvek HomeWrap functions as a weather-resistant barrier behind the siding. It helps manage bulk water and air movement when properly integrated with the wall, openings, flashing, and exterior cladding.

Why use Alside ProFold fanfold underlayment?

Fanfold underlayment can help provide a smoother substrate and supplemental insulation beneath vinyl siding when the wall condition and installation details call for it.

Why add board-and-batten siding to the front?

The vertical board-and-batten accent adds dimension and visual emphasis to the front elevation, while the horizontal siding keeps the side and rear elevations practical and consistent.

How did the crew handle the narrow access?

The property has very limited space between neighboring buildings and multiple stories. The work required careful ladder placement, staging, material handling, and protection of adjacent surfaces.

Was the roof replaced as part of this project?

No roof replacement or roof-deck replacement is documented here. The project scope shown is exterior siding replacement and related wall, trim, weather-barrier, and drainage work.

How much siding was replaced?

The visible project scope is estimated at approximately 2,000–2,800 square feet of exterior wall surface. Actual quantities depend on field measurements, openings, waste factors, and final scope.
